The next meeting of the PTSA Board is Thursday, March 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Principal’s Conference Room.  All are welcome.  Notice the change in day, we usually meet on a Tuesday but there is a conflict with another event that is happening on Tuesday the 20th so we have moved our meeting.
The next Red & Blue Crew is Friday, March 23rd in the cafeteria during all lunch blocks.  We will be serving yummy home-made brownies.  Remember to visit the RBC table during lunch to get your brownie.  If you remember your PTSA membership card you will get extra candy!!
REMEMBER we have passive fundraisers at Kroger and Farm Fresh running all the time and with Easter coming there will be plenty of opportunity to shop and earn money for Grafton.  Just shop as you normally would!!  Spread the word about these fundraisers and you can even involve friends, family and neighbors.  You do not have to be a PTSA member to take part in any of them.
If you shop at Kroger please consider registering your Kroger Plus Card on-line and selecting Grafton PTSA as the beneficiary.  Every time you shop you will earn monetary rewards for GHS PTSA which we collect in the form of a check every quarter.  Last year we earned over $1500 with this fundraiser alone and that was with only 47 Grafton families enrolled.
If you shop at Farm Fresh then remember to show the Grafton High School key fob you received when you joined the PTSA.  The key fob is registered to GHS PTSA so you don’t have to do anything else.  The Farm Fresh rewards are redeemed via a catalogue enabling the Administration to choose items that will benefit the school.
Use the link below to check out all of these fundraisers and have fun shopping!
Did you know that the New Horizons Campus in Newport News has an animal care center that offers basic grooming services such as nail trim, bath, blow dry and clipper cut?  This allows the Veterinary Science students to learn how to respect, safely handle and treat animals in a real-world scenario.  The students give each patient a complete physical exam including temperature, pulse and respiratory rate as well as an external parasite check.  They check body weight, examine eyes, ears and teeth and provide a written record as they would have to in a Veterinary Office.  They also offer a doggie day care if you just want to socialize your fur baby.
All you need to do is provide proof of a current rabies vaccine and of course no aggressive dogs.  The cost is in the form of a donation and the proceeds from the services help support the activities as well as local animal care facilities.
If you are interested please call 757-874-4444 ext. 5587.
The students on this program come from all the surrounding school districts, we currently have a couple of Grafton students who attend.  This is a great way to support the New Horizons Center and the students who attend this program.  See the attached sheet for more details and check out the link below to see details of the program.
Congratulations to Grafton’s Hannah McAllister for winning 2nd place for the Visual Arts Category in the Peninsula District PTSA judging.  Her creative interpretation of the theme “Within Reach” was truly amazing.
GHS Junior, Haley Kramer, was one of 5 students from the state of Virginia whose 2019-2020 PTA Reflections program theme entries will be advancing to National PTA judging.
Congratulations and good luck in National judging!
Attached is the flyer for the WINTER SPORTS Banquet that will take place on Monday, March 5th in the cafeteria at Grafton High School.  It will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a buffet before moving into the Auditorium for congratulations and awards.
Please note that this banquet is ONLY FOR HIGH SCHOOL WINTER SPORTS TEAMS:
Basketball JV & Varsity Boys & Girls
Cheer – Sideline only
