The Grafton High School Art Department would like to invite you to our annual Art Show: Encompass, Thursday, March 29th, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Atrium.  We will have over 20 Senior Showcases and over 1,000 art pieces including drawings, paintings, sculpture, crafts, photography and mixed media.  Every student in a GHS art class will have a piece on display.  During the art show, ceramics bowls will be sold as part of the Empty Bowls Project. All proceeds will benefit the York/Poquoson Food Closet.
Thank you so much for your support of our GHS Art Students.  We look forward to seeing you! Remember, you will need to sign in at the office to attend the show. Bring ID.
‘Spring’ into Volunteering – Grafton High School’s Clippers Care program promotes and facilitates community service by GHS students.  Community service is an excellent opportunity to give back to the community; is an outstanding addition to competitive college applications; and is recognized at graduation at both the county and state levels.
The attached flyer provides a sprinkling of community service opportunities in the local area.  Students are reminded that community service hours should be recorded and submitted to Mr. O’Regan in Room 400.

Has your student signed up for an AP course for the 2018-2019 School year?
Grafton High School would like to invite you to attend:
AP PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT – Tuesday, April 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the GHS Auditorium.
By attending you will meet the teachers of AP courses and learn about the content and rigor of these college level courses.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please make sure you turn in your community service hours to the school counseling office to qualify for either the YCSD Community Service Seal or the Excellence in Civics seal placed on your diploma.
Please turn in your college acceptance letters to the School Counseling Office.
Also, all scholarships offers that are shared with the School Counseling Office will be included in the graduation program.  Even if the scholarship is not being accepted by the student these will still be included in the program.
RED MANGO NESTLE TOLL HOUSE CAFÉ FUNDRAISER – March 25th to 31st from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Tech Center, 12080 Jefferson Ave, Bldg. 900, Suite 940.
Cruise over to Red Mango for a yummy treat!!  Grab some friends and enjoy frozen yogurts, fruit smoothies, parfaits, fresh juices and much more!  YUM!!!!

MR. GRAFTON – Saturday, April 28th at 7:00 p.m. in GHS Auditorium.
It’s the pageant of all pageants … it’s Mr. GRAFTON!!  Calling all guys 9th -12th grade!!  Pick up an application in the main office or print a copy attached to sign up to be a contestant for Mr. Grafton.  
Contestants will be judged on Spirit Wear, Swim Wear, Talent, Formal Wear and the Interview.  Judges will look for originality, school spirit and stage presence.  Return your application to the main office or you can give it to any of the following:  Christina Sabochick 871-3583 or Michael Caraballo 870-4890, our emcees, or Martha Owens 879-1943.
AFTER PROM – Sunday, May 20th from Midnight to 4:00 a.m. at Victory YMCA.

Help us make this a fun and safe evening for the senior class of 2018.  We need lots of volunteers on the night of After Prom.  Please sign up using the link below:
The After Prom Committee is selling graduation garden flags for $22!
Flags are sold for $22 each which includes one name and year.  There is a $2 charge for an additional name and year.  Deadline to receive garden flag orders and payment is:  April 20th

Nominations for the GHS PTSA Executive Committee for 2018-19 – The following Officer positions on the Board are currently vacant for next year.  The election for these positions will take place in May at the final General PTSA Meeting of the year.  The closing date for Nominations is Friday, April 27th and candidate names will be posted byFriday, May 4th.

Below is a brief list of duties for each position:
Vice President
The vice president may be called upon at any time to assume temporarily the place of the president;
The vice president is responsible for:
• Performing specific duties as provided for in the bylaws
• Assuming responsibility for duties designated by the president
• Representing the president in her/his absence or upon request
• and is a standing member ex officio of the membership committee.
Recording Secretary
The recording secretary is responsible for keeping an accurate record of the proceedings of association meetings. The secretary should be committed to helping the president conduct a businesslike meeting.
The secretary is responsible for:
• Recording minutes of PTA meetings, motions (recorded exactly as stated) and action taken
• Keeping secure official, permanent PTA records, including all originals of approved minutes and maintaining a copy of current bylaws, standing rules, and a membership list
The secretary should have these items on hand at all meetings:
• Minutes of the previous meeting
• Copies of the previous treasurer’s report
• List of unfinished business to be discussed
• Agenda
• Current bylaws and standing rules
• Current membership list
• List of committee chairs
• Materials for note/minute taking
